 2nd Annual Rummage Sale - October 18, 2008

Browse through pictures of the recent rummage sale:

Well it has been a long and exhausting 2 days but once again the Rummage Sale was a huge success.  The total amount of money generated in today's sale was $799.23.

There are so many people to thank and I am sure I will miss some. I apologize up front for that and please know it is unintentional.

The wonderful scouts in Pack 210 - you are amazing!  Thank you so much for your commitment to Proctor Park and for all of your hard work helping us raise money.  The community loves being a part of this fundraiser and we are so grateful to each of you, your leaders and your parents for making this fundraiser such a huge success.

New Whiteland Public Works employees - thank you for bringing up the sawhorses and plywood for the outside tables.  Thank you for moving shelving units and helping us get the room ready.

The New Whiteland Fire Department - thank you for loaning us tables and delivering them to the Town Hall.

The New Whiteland Police Department - thank you for the extra patrolling Friday night because people were so generous and donated so many items they wouldn't all fit in the building!

Melissa McCarty - thank you for helping sort and set up merchandise all day Friday - I know how tired (and dirty) you were when you left!

Cindy Yates & Connie Adams - thank you for running the office on Friday while Melissa & I set up for the sale.

Mike & Stacy Lingenfelter - thank you for organizing this fundraiser once again.  Thank you for drafting volunteers to work during the sale and for picking up donations, taking care of the advertising, working all day Saturday and finding a "home" for the items left over after the sale.

Dale & Erin Glick - thank you for working side by side with Mike & Stacy and for helping with the clean up detail.

Sharon Proctor - thank you for working all day Saturday.  I don't think you got a minute's rest.  Joey and all the rest of us are so proud of all you have done for Proctor Park.

Brian & Beth Stinson - thank you for all of the donations you collected and for borrowing a truck to deliver everything to the Town Hall and to the church afterwards.  Please thank your friend from Plainfield who loaned us the truck and donated so much stuff for the sale.

South Pointe Church - Charles & Jenny, Casey & Laura and your great kids - thank you for working the concession table all day at the sale - your generosity was greatly appreciated - you were a welcome addition to the sale.

To everyone who donated items and to all who stopped by to shop at the sale - thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Every dollar donated to this great project brings us one step closer to completing the vision that is Proctor Park.  Thank you all for being a part of the journey thus far - we have accomplished so much but there is much left to be done.

Wii Raffle Winner - Proctor Park booth at Johnson County Fair - July 2008

Shania Dodson, a 7th grader from Edinburgh, was the lucky winner of the Wii game system that was raffled off at the Proctor Park booth at the Johnson County Fair the week of July 13th - 19th.  Shania's father serves in the Army Reserves and returned from his tour of duty in Iraq in June.  Sounds like Shania's having a great summer!  Congratulations, Shania.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth at the Fair.  We appreciate all of the donations and everyone who bought raffle tickets.  Thank you to those who ordered bricks - we took 38 orders during Fair Week!  The bricks are being ordered and should be installed in the park by Labor Day.  Special thanks to the wonderful volunteers who worked in the booth all week.

On Friday, April 18, 2008, Center Grove Middle School teach Christa Mathews brought 27 7th graders along with eight adult chaperones to New Whiteland as part of their Community Service Day.
The students spent three-and-a-half hours picking up sticks and litter in the East and West Parks, washing fire trucks and vehicles at the New Whiteland Fire Department and painting picnic tables for Proctor Park.  It was a great day, and we greatly appreciate their commitment to community service.

On-going progress at Proctor Park

Work continues at a feverish pitch as we try to get everything completed before our Dedication Ceremony on May 3, 2008 at 2:00pm.
Photos here highlight the fountain in the Veteran's Memorial area and parking lot striping that was generously donated by Otto's Streetscape Solutions in Greenwood .
We also have photos of the installation of the 50' flagpole that was donated by KB Homes.  Eight additional flagpoles are being donated and installed by local resident Donnie Rodgers, owner of Rock Solid Sewer & Septic.  Donnie is being assisted with the installation by resident Scott Skinner, who is also a veteran.
