NEW WHITELAND PLAN COMMISSION

OCTOBER 28, 2008

7:00 pm

 

Chairman Terry Spencer began the meeting at 7:00 pm Members present were Rudy Reading, Ray Rodgers, Steve Hickman, Laura Hammons, Terry Spencer, Jim Lasiter and Scott Alspach. Inspector, Tim Guyer was in attendance.  Lee Robbins was not in attendance.

 

MINUTES:   

Rudy motioned to approved the minutes from the previous meeting.  Laura seconded the motion.  Vote was 7 affirmative.

 

ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT:

Four permits were issued.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

KRUTCHEN / 401 SAWMILL:

I reported that Lee has sent a letter to the residents at 401 Sawmill and have heard nothing, he will proceed with legal action regarding the issue of a boarding house. 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

GRACEPOINT CHURCH   330 WHITELAND ROAD

Steve Welch and Pastor Jim Devney approached the Plan Commission with drainage calculation for a gravel parking lot.  Gravel parking lots are not permitted, so the church is asking for a temporary gravel parking lot, to be hard surfaced one year from now.  Pastor Devney speculates on building a new sanctuary in about two years.  The members looked over the plan. Terry motioned to allow a temporary permit for a gravel parking lot for one year, and Gracepoint Church is to bring additional drainage calculation to the Plan Commission in May 2009. Jim Lasiter seconded the motion. Vote was 7 affirmative.  Pastor Devney and Steve Welch agreed to the Plan Commission’s condition.

 

Tim asked what do we charge for a temporary gravel parking lot.  It was decided to treat it as a land alteration permit.

 

 

ANNEXATION:

Jim Lasiter discussed annexation east of the current town boundaries, and possibly as north as Pushville Road.  Jim asked the members if they want Terry to bring it up at the next Town Council meeting.  Jim states if New Whiteland doesn’t do something soon, the land will be taken by another entity.  The members agreed to take the matter to the Council.
