PROCTOR PARK
EVENT PLANNING
SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING
JUNE 4, 2008
Attendees: Sue Galloway, Patti Wade, Scott & Maribeth Alspach
Fundraiser Options
Texas Roadhouse – call for more information – preferably on a Sunday
Rummage Sale – ask Lingenfelters if the Scouts would do another one this fall – if so file matching request with WalMart before the sale.
Wilson’s One-Liners – follow up call – John Perrin approached them about a fundraiser night.
Stella Owen’s embroidery – Maribeth shares samples of work done by local resident who has volunteered to take orders and donate all profits to Proctor Park. She would be reimbursed for the cost of materials only. The Town Council has asked that the Town Attorney approve the marketing of these items (format) before beginning. Will show items on the website and order forms.
Johnson County Fair – July 13 – 19. Maribeth will call to get cost information on having a booth again this year. Discussed raffle items of items to sell to raise more money. Discussed booth coverage and how to get more people involved in working this year.
Events
Freedom Isn’t Free Festival – discussed possible one day event in September. We are looking at September 20th or 27th. Sue will check the CPCSC calendar to see which date looks better. Patti will also re-contact the Colts to request a player appearance. Maribeth has requested a proposal for a fireworks display to close the evening. Vicky Moss was checking with a local band for a concert.
Possible events that day:
Chili Cook Off
Apple Pie Contest
Pie Eating Contest
Tug of War
“Ms. Whiteland or Proctor Park” Contest (boys in drag)
Food Vendors
Games
Kiddie Rides
We need activities scheduled every hour to generate interest and participation – possibly have Veteran’s recognition service before fireworks and pass combat boots or military helmets through the crowd for donations. Have Vicky or Patti contact Dean Metcalf re: scheduling Bob & Tom for an appearance.
The Town Council has approved an exploratory committee for this event – need to raise about $5,000 in sponsorship fees.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
