NEW WHITELAND TOWN COUNCIL
AUGUST 1, 2007
2008 PRELIMINARY BUDGET
HEARING
MEETING MINUTES
Town Council President
Parks
Department
Parks Director Facemire presents her 2008
budget. There is some discussion about
the lack of programs or activities that are sponsored or directed by the Parks
Department. The Clark-Pleasant School
Corporation has taken over most of the programs. Director Facemire states that she does not
have any programs now or scheduled for the fall. She offered a Fall Softball League and Flag
Football but did not have enough participants to make the programs viable. The council decides that due to budget
constraints and lack of programs they will no longer be able to fund a Park
Director’s position. Council advises
Director Facemire that she will be employed until August 31, 2007. They will be flexible with her hours if she
has interviews she needs to attend. They
thank her for her service and reiterate that this is not a reflection on her
only the sad reality of the change in ownership of the programs. Council determines that any monies available
for the Parks Budget be used to purchase playground equipment.
Fire
Department
Council authorizes a $1,500 pay increase for
the Fire Chief. Paid Stand-by is reduced by $6,720 with the understanding that
if the budget is approved by the State weekend paid stand-by could start during
the last half of 2008. 200’s – 249 –
Other Supplies is reduced by $2,000 and 250 – EMS Supplies is reduced by $500.
Total reduction - $8,115.
Being no other
business the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
